A good friend of mine told me once when I was getting started in the speaking business that “first you have to DO, then you earn the right to write, then you get to speak.” Sound advice I adopted in the early years. Well, I shouldn’t say that. I’ve only been in the professional speaking and authorship field for a little less than 10 years.
For sure, you really should go through the wickets so to speak when starting a speaking career. Sometimes people get into speaking from the back-end and then they’re surprised when someone asks them to write. Others just desire writing, and they launch their book, only to find requests for speaking gigs happen soon after.
This blog is about the authoring and speaking business. The two go hand-in-hand. If you’re successful in one or the other, the other is sure to follow. So, why not just plan for it and get a book written and enhance your speaking skill at the same time?
I will be keeping my name anonymous so that no one in my field can get mad directly at me and start blacklisting me from my contacts or whatever crazy people might do. But, that just allows me to be more direct in my advising with this blog.
So, what is this blog about? Being an author and a speaker and anything I see happening in the industry effecting you and me as we go forward in our ventures. Happy reading, commenting, writing, and speaking and thanks for checking out Author Speaker Times.
